The Half A Dozen Hospitality Podcast

What I Learned From Lumberjack

March 4, 2020

A quick one today as I share a story that is so appropriate really for all of us to listen to BUT especially those of us in the hospitality industry.

On today's podcast I share what I have learned from a lumberjack.

The awesome story that Steven Covey has shared so many times about the two lumberjacks one who worked non-stop for hours upon hours upon hours the other who took breaks often to sharpen his saw.

In essence this story, for me, is about the importance of taking a break, doing 'nothing' and resting.

The hospitality industry at times can almost reward someone who is working endlessly just like the one lumberjack in the story, but we know intuitively that there is no sustainability to working for days, weeks or months in a row. Yet so many of us do it.

To increase your potential of not only thriving in business but also living a much healthier and enjoyable life, make sure you take time to sharpen your saw every so often. You'll be glad that you did.
